Ahmed is a documentary filmmaker, film programmer, cinema educator, and podcaster whose multidisciplinary work bridges art, memory, and community engagement. A graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts and alumnus of the Jesuits Cultural Center’s film school, his films — ranging from experimental shorts like A Bird on the Bridge (2013) to feature-length documentaries such as The City Will Pursue You (2017) — have been screened at festivals and cultural venues around the world.
Since 2008, Ahmed has worked mainly as a film programmer at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. However, he currently serves as Lead Programmer at MedFest Egypt film festival, heads the New Stars Competition for film students at the Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts, and moderates discussions at El Gouna Film Festival. In 2024, he was invited to chair juries for both the Breaking Walls Film Festival in Cairo and the Alexandria Green Film Festival.
Deeply committed to nurturing emerging talent, Ahmed has designed and taught courses and workshops for aspiring filmmakers. He served as an instructor and tutor at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, Jesuit Cultural Center, Wekalet Behna. He has led sessions in Alexandria, Mansoura, Port Said, Sohag, Asyut, Tunis, and Istanbul, collaborating with organizations such as Wekalet Behna in Alexandria, NAAS in Berlin and FTCC in Tunis. From 2020 to 2023, he hosted the Naddara Khashab podcast, a cinematic podcast in Arabic that is specialized in creative documentary cinema.
